| The Artist |
Dana L. Stewart was born, October 10th 1951, and raised in California, where he developed interests in art, animals and surfing. Early sculptural works were executed in various materials including ceramics, resin and welded metal. During his Master’s program at San Diego State University, Dana met Herk Van Tongeren, who introduced him to ceramic shell bronze casting. Herk invited Dana to come east in order to do “research” at the Johnson Atelier. A two-week visit to New Jersey turned into 30 years + !
Dana’s career evolved from being the head of the ceramic shell department at the Atelier in 1977 to operating his own commercial casting facility, called Stewart Sculpture Casting in Lambertville/NJ where he produces his sculptures in bronze and provides the service to many other artists.
